Declutter my Home  

i don't get cluttered to start with. be strict with yourself and if you haven't used something for a year then get rid of it. you won't need it and in the very unlikely event that just in case occurs then steal a new one. incidentally what is your clutter?

i have always enjoyed decluttering for two reasons....

first thing is when start sorting it... i get many things that will refresh my memory and i get the feeling that i am reliving those movements... and i feel happy about it...

second thing is i dont want anyone to interfere in my family privacy...

Pike! do you really NEED the room??

Paint the door,door frame and lock'n'handle exactly the same colour as the adjoining wall.. Find that framed piece of artwork already in THAT room and bring it out and HANG it on the door. now lock the door! You have a really nice storage room, now don't you?

Alright, mine is under the stairs, but you still need to have a place to store things. If the attic and under the stairs are already too busy, and that extra room is not of immediate use.. why not let it have a use.

There is a rule. shortly after you get rid of something, you need it.
I have everything in plastic 'fit on each other' boxes and they are all labelled sides, ends and top and I pile them up according to some system my brain comes up with. it's organized.. just call it the 'Overstudy'if it is upstairs, and the reverse if it is downstairs.

Fly me over and I'll do it all for only room and board...oh...my son has to come too. It might take me a couple of months to finish though...is that ok? I bake too...oh..and I wash dishes....and....I can get into lots of minor trouble...water balloons and such......but I'm overall pretty good company!

I am in the process of decluttering right now! The first bedroom upstairs is dreadfully cluttered with things I meant to take up to the attic, things that needed to find a place and just plain things. I began last Friday and the room looks much, much better! Every day I pick one item and put it away. Sometimes that means a trip to the attic, sometimes it means just dropping it in the trash or in a box. Usually after I do the one thing I'll take the time to do another. The room is half de-cluttered now and much more organized! It won't take more than another few days to have it looking good at this rate.

We have a room just like that too!! It's also our spare room, but it doesn't have a bed in there, there's no room, what with all the junk. It is very useful but it's getting fuller and fuller, not sure what we're going to do with it. We're not very good at this decluttering lark, there's always so many better things to do with our time.. So I'm afraid I can't help you with any decluttering advice, hope somebody else knows more!!

OK wait, where's the wall? and the floor?

I have a room like that but I do try to keep it organized. I have alot of things that I am slowly getting rid of and it is difficult because some of the things are from my brothers apartment and he has passed away in Dec 2008. He had boxes of old weightlifting magazines that are very old.(some back from 1942 yea 1942). I just told myself they were packed up in bags at his apartment so if I know someone who wants them I will part with them, so slowly I have been taking them to my gym. Also he had alot of office supplies because he was self employed and I am slowly parting with what I do not need. I would suggest getting two big bags, one marked pitch and one marked give away and force yourself to ut one thing in each bag each day for a week.

oh clutter, clutter, clutter.... boy do I know about it and have to deal with it on a weekly basis!!!!
first let me say I have been married--going to be 14 yrs this March...we lived in apartments for the first 9 yrs of our marriage and we always had a "drop all" room --that is what I called it because that is where we got stuff and dropped it and it stayed there and like 4 times a yr I would clean out that room....
5 yrs ago we bought a fixer upper house when it was justs hubby,me and our son... and the house is smaller than the last 2 apartments we had -so we had alot of stuff to fit in a small place...but at least we had a garage to put the extra... well I have been de-cluttering us for the last 5 yrs..and now we have our daughter -- so when I get rid of stuff I swear we get 2 things to replace that one!!...so I am always decluttering my house week by week... On the bright side, we bought our house and the house market dropped...so our house isnt worth what it was when we bought it... ...but I try to think positive and tell hubby since we wont be selling to quickly we have the time to put into remodeling (which we do the work ourself) and we have time to go through everything --a little bit at a time -- and make it perfect before we sell....LOL
So I know and am living with a clutter situation, but I can say it is much better than it was last year!!! LMAO!!Happy mylotting!!

Lol!! as you have seen my house, my whole house is cluttered, I neend to declutter it and cleare everything out!! and guess where they are going? all up in the attic but I need hubby to do that and to depend on him is another thing,but I do have this bad habit of keeping things, just in case, lol! hugs,
